ZOM-BZE: (Zom’be) n. also ZOM-BIES pl. I. An animated corpse that feeds on living human flesh. 2. A voodoo spell that raises the dead. 3.A Voodoo snake god. 4. One who moves or acts in a daze “like a zombie.” [ a word of West African origin ]

Outbreaks are divided into four classes, one more lethal than the rest. Class one outbreaks usually occur in third world, isolated countries and do not break a hundred casualties. A class two outbreak contaminates a wider town, several hundreds of miles — casualties range in the low hundreds and don’t last longer than a couple of months. These two kinds get little, to no media coverage, swept under the rug as simple disease epidemics like Mad Cow or a case of medieval Porfiria. Class three outbreaks however, level in the thousands, hoards of the undead roaming the streets of urban communities and cities, taking over the world one bite at a time. Eye witness accounts start in the hundreds, and slowly, mass media cannot hide the various numbers of homicides and the chaos that starts overwhelming cities, towns, and nations across the globe. Expected marshal law takes over, countries are put into states of emergencies, towns are evacuated, supplies are rationed, and before we know it, a class four outbreak takes over, and ends the world as we know it.

Nobody is certain how the Solanum virus started spreading throughout the world. Some say it was a laboratory experiment gone bad, trying to recreate modern warfare, make humans the weapons instead of wasting millions of dollars in other, man made technology. Whatever the real reason for a mass outbreak of the Solanum virus was, all is known is that it spread quickly, harshly, sweeping through the largest of towns and destroying every trace of human life possible. The first cities wiped off the map were New York, Los Angeles, Miami — places with a vast number of people in a population where mass hysteria was easy to expect. Those lucky enough to survive fled their homes and never looked back, seeking refuge with other lucky survivors, in camps where teamwork is essential for the survival of the fittest.

A tenuous voice can sometimes be heard over the 103.4 frequency on the radio, advertising a possible cure, advising those who survived to seek shelter and avoid the walking dead for as long as possible. Its been seven months however, since the last time the voice was heard over the radio.

ABOUT THE VERSE;;

This verse takes place in the outskirts of Salt Lake City, in a small camp where Oliver Queen and his sister Thea remained for a few weeks before finding survivors while hunting supplies in the city. It is loosely based on the video game The Last of Us, slightly on The Walking Dead, but most importantly incorporates a lot of knowledge from the book The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks. You are not required to read, play, or watch any of these, but some knowledge about at least one of the prior is recommended.

RULES;;

  • If you wish to form part of this verse, contact me.
  • This is not first come, first served. I will look through your blogs before making any decisions, unless we’re mutuals.
  • Stay active, please, its the only way to keep a verse alive.
  • You do not have to be part of the Arrow fandom or the DC fandom to join, any fandom is welcomed.
  • Please keep all drama strictly in character.
  • Make sure to track the tag: #( v; the last of us )

ONCE ACCEPTED;;

Make a small bio, of the length of your choosing. Make sure to state your character’s age, state/city of origin their role in the camp, and their weapon of choice. Please keep your weapon and supplies realistic (it is highly unlikely someone will be carrying around something as heavy as a flamethrower or a machine gun or a rocket launcher everywhere they go; remember, this is about convenience, not power.)
