organized crime is h i g h in the city of new orleans when the hales and the mikaelsons are around. the two families are grappling for having the most power, long past pretending to make nice. many people in the city try to stay neutral, not taking any side or simply not trying to get involved. others? well, they pick a side, because it’s the life they’ve always known growing up in new orleans, or it’s for survival. the police have slowly been corrupted by it as well, deciding it’s easier just to work with the mobsters than try and fight them when the mayor is even making deals with them.

both families dominate much of the real estate in the city, buying up many of the buildings. the hales main establishment is a night club, verdant, while the mikaelsons main establishment is kol mikaelson’s strip club, plush. the stilinski family is one of the few out there that really want to bring the law back into the city, but they’re doing it quietly ; they need more allies & more leverage before they would attempt that. the salvatores were formerly friends of the mikaelsons, they’ve changed their alliance to the hales. while working their way up in the hale family rank, the mikaelsons are planning revenge. the argents have only just recently come to town, allying with the mikaelsons just because they’ve never particularly liked the hale family. old rivalries die hard ; not an unknown concept in this town.
